Image: Inspired by the annual international Workshop hosted by the Center for Simulational Physics (CSP), the Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics (BMSP) brings together researchers from throughout the world in an effort to promote simulational physics... Members of the Center for Simulational Physics (CSP) played major roles in the X Brazilian Meeting on Simulational Physics (BMSP) in August, 2019. Inspired by the annual international Workshop hosted by the CSP, the BMSP brings together researchers from throughout the world in an effort to promote simulational physics research in Brazil. David P. Landau, Distinguished Research Professor and Director of the CSP presented the Opening Invited Address at the meeting entitled "A New Universality at a First Order Transition: The Spin-flop Transition in an Anisotropic Heisenberg Antiferromagnet". Prof. Landau's trip was supported by a Professorial Fellowship awarded jointly by the American Physical Society (APS) and the Sociedade Brasileiro de Fisica (SBF). While in Brazil Prof. Landau also presented a Colloquium at the Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto entitled "Exploring Complex Free Energy Landscapes with Innovative Monte Carlo Simulations". Another Invited talk was presented by Michael Bachmann, CSP member and Professor of Physics, entitled "Classification of Phase Transitions by Generalized Microcanonical Inflection-Point Analysis". Prof. Bachmann has been supported by an CNPq grant from the Ciência sem Fronteiras program and has hosted a visiting graduate student from the Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil this past year. His participation in the BMSP was also supported by a travel grant from OVPR. CSP member and Professor of Physics Michael Bachmann The Center for Simulational Physics has a long history of attracting visitors and initiating collaborations with Brazilian researchers. Several graduate students from the CSP have also been awarded APS/SBF Graduate Student Fellowships to visit Brazil.
